"An artist must have downtime, time to do nothing. Defending our right to such time takes courage, conviction, and resiliency. Such time, space, and quiet will strike our family and friends as a withdrawal from them. It is. For an artist withdrawal is necessary. Without it, the artist in us feels vexed, angry, out of sorts. If such deprivation continues, our artist becomes sullen, depressed, hostile. We eventually become like cornered animals, snarling at our family and friends to leave us alone and stop making unreasonable demands. We are the ones making unreasonable demands. We expect our artist to be able to function without giving it what it needs to do so. An artist requires the upkeep of creative solitude. An artist requires the healing of time alone. Without this period of recharging, our artist becomes depleted. Over time, it becomes something worse than out of sorts Death threats are issued."  - Julia Cameron "The Artist's Way"

I've felt this way before, and struggled to make sense of the feeling to myself and to others. And now I've found it :star:

hi guys!

are there any virgo's out there who spend their entire freaking life fretting about others and not an ounce of time fretting about yourself?  better yet... any Virgo's who, after imagining up some grand mistake you MAY have made, proceed to panic and worry that the person involved may hate your everloving guts because of it?  then it's revealed that you did in fact panic over absolutely nothing and the person involved didn't give a flying fig?

and then do you sit back and wonder why the hell you haven't learned your lesson?  because good GOD i do all of this so much.  i'm wired to be this way, i know.  but is it a sign thing?  is it just a personality thing?

At least for the time being.
Now it's time to get working on me and my art.  I want to have my Etsy shop open by the end of May!

Sorry to those who were waiting (perhaps) to commission me.

hi there!
i'm back with another some-what pointless journal, rife with curiousity.

what is your stand point regarding +faves vs. comments here on DA?  do you have a preference;  one you prefer more?  if so, why?

for me, my standing has changed.  originally it was about the comments.  i wanted them over +faves.  because let's face it, who doesn't like hearing from others regarding their work?  i mean, you post it up for the public to see!  but the longer i spend on DA and the more it changes, the more i find +faves to be on 'equal' ground with comments.  because, to me, favoriting something is like... logging it away for quick reference?

when i'm browsing i tend to find favorites and think, 'holy crow, that's really incredible!  i want to save this as inspiration later/show this to my friends/look back on it later cuz it's just that amazing!'  maybe i'm flattering myself, but when people +fave my work i like to think that they're thinking the same.  and with that in mind, they've already 'commented' without saying a word.  does that even remotely make sense?

don't get me wrong, i love a good comment still!  it's great to get feedback.  but i really do feel that, in general, a +fave says the same (without the words).
